Once again this year, a very generous Hyper IgM Family will be matching all donations towards our Giving Tuesday campaigns up to $10,000! !!! With this generous matching offer, we hope that our families and friends can help raise $20,000 for a total of $30,000 raised for our cause.
Over the past eight years, your support has allowed us to create a brighter future for children with Hyper IgM Syndrome. Hyper IgM Syndrome is a very rare disease that affects only 1 in 1,000,000 individuals. Those living with Hyper IgM face a significantly shortened lifespan, multiple hospitalizations, and a high risk of secondary cancers. With your support, the Hyper IgM Foundation is providing funding to researchers actively working on gene editing therapies for Hyper IgM Syndrome with the hope that this can provide a cure for all children with Hyper IgM.
Our donor support has allowed us to grow our organization and become a major advocate for our families in the rare disease world:
- In 2017, we made our first grant to support gene editing research for Hyper IgM Syndrome
- In 2018 we Increased our grant funding to $20,000, supporting researchers working on new treatments for Hyper IgM Syndrome and a better understanding of the disease
- In 2019 we once again increased our grant funding to $25,000 for research
- In 2020 ◦we awarded $30,000 to Dr. Shanmuganathan Chandrakasan at Emory University to support research into the comprehensive immune evaluation of carriers with CD40L deficiency.
- In 2022, we awarded $30,000 to Dr. Cheng Zhu at the Georgia Institute of Technology and $10,000 to Dr. Junghee Shin, at Yale University School of Medicine supporting research into a better understanding X-HIGM.
- In 2023, we awarded $100,000 to to Dr. Daniele Canarutto and Prof. Luigi Naldini at the San Raffaele Telethon Institute for Gene Therapy in Milan, Italy to support groundbreaking research into In-depth genome integrity characterization of CD4+ T-cells gene-edited at the CD40LG locus for the treatment of Hyper-IgM 1.
- In 2024, with your support, we once again increased our grant funding to $100,000 for research!
- We sent dozens of care packages to children with Hyper IgM undergoing treatments and bone marrow transplants in the US, England, Italy, Canada, and Australia
- We connected families around the globe to top physicians and researchers focused on treating and curing Hyper IgM
With your help, we can increase research funding in 2024, and help find a cure for Hyper IgM Syndrome!
